Wanda Jones Obituary

Wanda Lee Jones, 57, “Miskwa’ Benaisikwe” meaning “Redbird Woman” of the Kingfisher clan, began her spiritual journey on Friday, July 6, 2024, from her home in Walker, MN, surrounded by her loving family.  Wanda was born to Lawrence Jones and Luella Hawk on September 17, 1966, in Ponemah, MN.

Wanda loved to bake for her children, grandchildren, and the elders of the community, as well as cooking for all of them too.  She enjoyed thrifting as well as going to garage sales.  She could be found at home listening to Lorreta Lynn and Buck Owens or watching the Andy Griffith show.  Wanda had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around with everyone.

She loved to have her grandchildren with her all the time.  She truly enjoyed the holidays, when she would cook and bake for everyone.  It was the best to have all her family around for the holidays!

Family welcoming Wanda to the spirit world are her parents, Lawrence Jones and Luella Hawk; auntie, Edith Hawk; uncles, Gerald Hawk, Royce Hawk; brothers, Rob Fairbanks and Michael Hawk; sisters, Elain Hawk and Harriet Johnson.

Those Wanda leaves behind are her significant others, Dan Oothoudt and Darrell Johnson, Sr.; sons, Daniel Jones, Wesly Oothoudt, Darrell Johnson, Jr., Jacob Johnson; daughters, Amber Johnson and Debra Johnson; brothers, Fabian Wakanabo and Larry Jones, Jr.; sisters, Mary Jo Fairbanks, Becky Wakanabo, Laura Wakanabo, Renee Jones, Lavae Oothoudt, and Maggie Hawk;  grandchildren, Amiyah Decora, Adonis Decora, Cozmo Kenney, Dalyla Johnson (Oothoudt), Arianna Johnson, Arabella Johnson, Haydn LaRose, Jaycie Kenney, JayKon Johnson, Elijah Johnson (Molash), Dehana Jones, and Luca Jones; great-grandchildren, Skyler White and Grayson White.
