Wayne Kingbird, Sr.

Wayne Kingbird Sr., “Ji Do Maan”, age 76, of Deer River, MN journeyed to the spirit world on Monday August 4th, 2025, at Grand Village in Grand Rapids, MN.

He was born on July 30th, 1949, in Ponemah, MN to Leo and Lucille (Stately) Kingbird.  He enjoyed softball, singing and dancing at pow-wows, visiting his siblings and cousins.  He loved Keno, his camper, his white truck, his family, but most of all he loved his wife.

Family that welcomes Wayne to the spirit world are his wife, Dianna Kingbird; daughter Carrie Ann Kingbird; parents Lucille and Leo Kingbird Sr.; sisters Constance Beaulieu, Ruth Morrison, Barbara Kingbird; brothers Leo Kingbird II, Valerian Kingbird; grandsons Zhacharya Kingbird Jr., Arthur Kingbird.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son Wayne (Milli) Kingbird Jr. of Mille Lacs; daughters Lisa (Aaron) Kingbird of S. Lake, Anajanette (Thomas) Saros of Deer River, Angela Kingbird of Deer River, Gina Timbal of Grand Rapids; brothers Gordan (Annabell) Kingbird of Bemidji, Ronald (Sharon) Kingbird of Bemidji; sister Valerie (Robert) Weaver of Washington; sister in law Irene Denasha; brother in laws Warren (Debbie) Goggleye, Harold (Marilyn) Goggleye; twenty-four grandchildren; sixty four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A wake will be held on Thursday August 7th, 2025, at Wayne’s residence, 54120 W. Bowstring River Rd., Deer River, MN, at 4:00 pm.  A traditional service will be held on Friday August 8th, 2025, at Wayne’s residence at 11:00 am.  Pallbearers are Irving K., Valarian K., Vincent K. Sr., Vincent K. Jr., Craig C., Dominic K., Tamara W., John H., John M., Aaron R., Kenneth L. III, Zhacharya K., Dylan K., Adrian K.  Honorary Pallbearers are Kenneth L. IV, Vaundell K., Randall K., Julius L., Trevor K., Luca K., Thorin K., Devin K., Randall T., Aiden K., Cassandra L., Keriann K., Dianna K., Mystic M., Eliza K., Tessla R., Tiffany K., Kaleena K., Anajanette K., Braylynn K., Kyera K., Kelise K., Kaliyah K., Chantel L., Deanna L., Amber K.  Burial will be at Inger Cemetery, in Inger, MN.
