Clayton Ray Hurd
April 10, 1963 ~ October 18, 2017 (age 54) 54 Years OldClayton Ray Hurd, 54, “Makade-Ma’iingan” which means “Black Wolf” of the Eagle Clan and Ponemah, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. He was born in Red Lake, MN on April 10, 1963 to Loretta (Johnson) and Marvin Hurd, Sr.
Clayton was “Buckets” and “Uncle Buck” to all who knew him. He was very witty and had a great sense of humor. Clayton enjoyed reading mysteries and detective stories. He was a very good dancer and loved to “cut a rug”. He was always playing cards, many different games but he especially liked to play solitare. Clayton was a good cook and made some of the best soup around.
Clayton is welcomed to the spirit world by his parents; Marvin and Loretta, brothers; Mark, Keith and Baby Boy Hurd and his grandparents.
He leaves behind his brothers; Marvin (Shari) Hurd, Jr. and Fabian Hurd, Sr. both of Minneapolis and Edwin Hurd of Ponemah, sisters; Cherilyn Johnson and Kimberly Hurd both of Ponemah and Tara (Randall) Dow of Ponemah, special grandchildren; Vanessa, Shyrah, Fox, Forest and Trunks Hurd, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
A wake for Clayton will begin at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 25th and continue until his traditional service at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 27th all being held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN. Zac Mitteness will be his Spiritual Leader. Pallbearers for Clayton are Chad Hurd, Chris Hurd, Donald Hurd, Michael Hurd, Jerry Johnson, Douglas Beaulieu, Jr., Donald Sumner, Jr. and Scott Johnson. Alternate pallbearers are Jay Barrett, Tyler Johnson and Carl Fairbanks, Jr. His honorary pallbearers are John Sumner, Jr., Richard Thomas, Tom Stillday, Jr., Jeremy Holstein, Lynette Sumner, Sharon Jones, Tharen Iceman, Brenda White, Donna “Bitsy” Whitefeather, Eunice Whitefeather and all his family. Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds at Ponemah, MN following services.
