Oh, Rosy, I am so very sorry to read about Ray. I recall your first date at Steventon's in LeClaire and when you both fell in love at Wild Cat Den State Park! What a treasure it was to be in the presence of you and Ray!
Each and every time you walk into the home he built for you, I imagine you will sense the hug he is giving you.
Much Love in Christ,
Carolyn

It was with great sadness that I learned of Ray's passing. I knew of his tenuous health condition which he handled with dignity and reserve above all. But I didn't know Ray well as I came late to the circle of friends that held him close. But in time, I came to know him as a gentle an yet substantial person with conviction and purpose in the conduct of his life. Best of all, I came to know him as my friend. We never talked much owing to his and my hearing difficulties, still, I always knew that beneath that quiet, gentle exterior was a smile meant for me. One fall, as we greeted one another on our arrival, he commented that I had gained quite a bit of weight. Rosie was taken aback at such a bold statement. I, on the other hand knew no offense was intended and none was taken--he was simply Ray--making an observation on the truth with a smile in his eyes. It has been said that life has a way of chipping away at our rough edges and polishing us smooth. Such was true of Ray. Quiet, polished, strong as stone, he was simply Ray. I can imagine he is busy now making strong, simple chairs for the hosts of heaven. Rest well, dear friend.
