Tina Louise Jones, “Waa-saa-go-naa-biik”, which means “Glimmering Snow Woman”, of the Bear Clan, age 44 of Bemidji, began her spiritual journey on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.  Tina was born on December 15, 1972 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Abraham Smith, Jr. and Gloria Jones. 

Tina was a big hearted person who always helped people in need.  She was always happy and showed through her smiles.  Tina was the greatest mother who loved making sure her children always celebrated the holidays.  She enjoyed making Easter baskets and the kids would sometimes get more than one basket.  Tina enjoyed coloring, going to birthday parties, spending hours at Wal-Mart, attending Grand Entries and pow-wows, and anything that had to do with Mickey Mouse.

The family that Tina joins again are her parents; Abraham and Gloria, paternal grandparents; Abraham Smith, Sr. and Maggie (Standing) Smith, maternal grandparents; Vera Ann and Theodore Jones, and infant twin brother and sister.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her children; Lewis Edward Barney, Jr., Vincent Armani Lee Barney, and Gloria Jean Angeline Barney all of Bemidji, brothers; Duwayne Allen Jones of Bemidji, Fabian Clyde Jones of Bemidji, and Ronald (Pauline) Lawrence Kingbird of Redby, sisters; Shannon Jo Jones of Seattle, WA, Mona (Tony) Lee Jones of Cass Lake, and Kymberly (Jerome, Jr.) Rose Kingbird-Moreno of Redby, other relatives and many friends.

A wake for Tina will begin at 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2017 at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake.  The wake will continue there until the 10:00 a.m. service on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 also at the Veterans Memorial Building Cass Lake, Minnesota.  Interment will be held in the old Mission Cemetery Call Lake, Minnesota.  Pallbearers for Tina will be Lewis Barney, Jr., Vincent Barney, Phillip Jones, Jr., Phillip Jones, Sr., Kevin Jones, Jr. and Duwayne Jones.  Alternative pallbearers will be Tony Yanez and Eric Smith.  Honorary pallbearers will be Carol Charnoski, Diane Bellanger, Gloria Barney, Destiny Jones, Kelly Jones, Debbie Stately, Terri Boswell, Jennifer Westerman-Longie, Lu Graves, Pauline Johnson, Lisa White, Kym Kingbird-Moreno, Alicia Stately, Michelle Smith, Kaylah Jones, Samantha Fisher, Martha Smith, Darilyn Jones and Mona Jones.
